Captain Michael R. Cobb, BCETS has served with the Richland, Washington Police Department since 1982 and currently holds the rank of Captain. He has 16 years experience as a member of the special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team and was a K-9 handler for 9 years. Captain Cobb has commanded the Support Operations, Field Operations, and Administrative Operations Divisions, was assigned as an Interim Director for Emergency Services and is the Incident Commander for the regional Bomb Squad. A Past President of the Washington State Tactical Officers Association (WSTOA), he continues to provide CISM services to tactical team members across the U.S. He is a co-founder of the Tri-County CISM Network, their past President and current Law Enforcement Coordinator. Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Education, is a faculty member with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and serves on the ICISF’s Speakers Bureau. He is a recognized instructor for CISM: Group Crisis Intervention, CISM: Advanced Group Crisis Intervention, CISM: Peer Support/Individual Crisis Intervention and CISM in Law Enforcement programs. In 2000 the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress recognized Captain Cobb as a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and he continues as a Dipolmate member of the AAETS.
